Morgan Hill Aquatics Center
Morgan Hill, California
The new Morgan Hill Aquatics Center features a 50 meter competitive pool, 8,000 sq. ft. of recreational pools, and a 9,000 sq. ft. aquatics building. The Center hosts local and regional events year round, plus the 25-foot waterslide and water “sprayground” makes it a popular destination for families in the hot summer months.
The building supports the Center by housing all of the necessary services – showers, changing rooms, administrative office space, ticket sales office, staff area, concessions and an event room for classes or parties.
Constructed of recycled building material, the Center is the first outdoor aquatics complex to be certified LEED Silver through the USGBC. The energy efficient design of the building uses large sails to block the wind and limit the amount of energy and water loss due to evaporation. This innovative design solution results in a water savings of 57% and lowers the pool heating cost by 40%.
