Since the start of his career in 1981, Mr. Umerani has directed the structural design and the management of cultural arts, academic, civic, health care, institutional facilities, and master planning projects. Throughout his career, he has specialized in steel, concrete and heavy timber structures. Part of his design approach incorporates innovative reuse of recycled steel, engineered lumber from residual/by-products, reclaimed lumber, and strawbale to achieve sustainable design objectives. Umerani’s work throughout the Greater Bay Area has involved designing structures located near highly active seismic faults. His portfolio includes extensive collaboration with DSA and OSHPD, as well as many other public and private review agencies. He fosters a high level of communication in every project, and cultivates a proactive and inclusive team approach with owners, architects, other consultants and review agencies to best serve the interests of his clients.
